I wanted to like this stain and it was the first time purchasing from this company. However it’s my fault for not researching the ingredients. The stain is basically red food coloring with preservatives, two of which are sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid (and citric acid) which can react to form small amounts of benzene, a chemical that is a known carcinogen and DNA-damager. Red food coloring is also known to be a common allergen, which I unfortunately found out when my lips started burning. Also this stain is very drying so definitely not appropriate for mature lips (I’m 45).
I was really quite disappointed with this product. It pulls much more orange than in the photos. I was trying to find a true, bright red lip stain. It’s really watery and not forgiving. It also comes off really quickly.
This is a stunning red and it layers well with other lip stains from this brand 😁
