Accidents happen all the time, and we understand how frustrating it can be when you accidentally get a stain on your clothes. It could be your favorite clothes, your “going out” clothes, or even worse ... .the clothes that you are already wearing at a special event. Usually, lip gloss stains are small, and that is because lip gloss products tend to come in small containers with a stopper that prevents it from leaking. Because of this, you can rest assured that the stain on your clothes will likely come off. However, if you have been so unlucky as to have a much larger stain, then the chances of the stain coming off your clothes will likely decrease. In any case, here are some simple steps you can take to try to get lip gloss out of clothes.

If you happen to be at home when the accident happens and it is relatively small, the simplest thing you can do is to throw those clothes into the washing machine, and the stain will almost always come off, no matter the color. I have tried it myself and it even works with white clothes. Always be sure to read the label on your clothes for recommendations on what settings to use for that particular fabric.
If you attempt to scrub the stain then it might cause further damage by spreading the stain. Instead, you will need to attempt to remove the stain by using a pinching motion going upwards. You can do this by either using makeup remover or hot soapy water. If you decide to use makeup remover, you will need to use a degreaser after the pinching motion. If you decide to use the hot soapy water, then we recommend using a solution of rubbing alcohol after the pinching motion to break down any remaining oil components.
Once you have managed to remove the stain, your clothes should always be washed after. Lip gloss on clothes can be harder to remove depending on the type of fabric. Reading the care label on your clothes will also prevent any color removal from the actual clothes. This will also help you choose the right products to use between makeup removers, degreasers, or rubbing alcohol solutions. The last thing you want is to further damage your clothes. Good luck!
