DIY Body Shimmer

Making body shimmers may vary in terms of difficulty depending on the type of format you are trying to make them in. For example, a powder body shimmer might be easier to make than a body shimmer oil. Rest assured, both of these can be accomplished if the right formulas and ingredients are used.

The first thing to know when creating your own formula is if you are prone to any allergic reactions. A helpful way to begin this process is by comparing the ingredients listed on your favorite products to get ideas of what you want to include, and what you want to avoid. It is also recommended not to use any type of craft glitter for your formula since it may cause skin irritation, and even eye infections. You can also keep in mind that some shimmers can stain clothes if applied too much depending on the shimmer pigments being used.
If your goal is to create a powder body shimmer then there are only a few simple steps to take. Powder body shimmers usually contain mineral pigments like shimmer mica, iron oxides, titanium oxide, and extra ingredients can be used depending on the shade or color that you want to create. Once you have collected your ingredients the next step is to mix all the powders together, and that is it! The hardest part of this formula will be finding the ingredients and the quantities of them.
On the other hand, creating an oil body shimmer has a few more steps and types of ingredients as well. Most oil body shimmers contain mica powder, coconut oil, and jojoba oil. Again, you can get inspiration from formulas that have already been created, but make sure that you are making it your own. In a container, you will mix the mica powder, along with the coconut oil and the jojoba oil until you have the right texture. You get to decide what this texture will be, and you might have to play around with the quantities of the oils, mica, or pigments. Although it may take a few tries to get the formula right, you will feel accomplished being able to make your own body shimmer oil.
